Time in Taoyuan with my extended family was really wonderful and heart-warming. I feel like I landed in Taiwan pretty torn up emotionally but left feeling stitched back together, happy even. It was the first time I passed a birthday there. They made a big deal out of it…I felt kind of bad. We went out to a nice lunch buffet, where they had mini cakes and other desserts, and then later that night, they brought over 3 whole cakes. So much cake.
This trip had all the usuals – wandering around Daxi, eating (gorging on really) all the Taiwanese fruits and food, walking around the market in the morning with my grandma, living room karaoke, family meals, catching up on family gossip, cheap boba, etc.
Ah I’m getting emotional looking back at these pictures. I miss my grandma. I hope I get to see her again.
