Tokyo bookended my trip to Japan. I loved how clean and relatively quiet (for a city) it was, and so easy to get around! Tokyo was mostly shopping and meeting up with people, so a different kind of fun than Kyoto. Unlike my previous solo trips, this was my first trip where there was a significant language barrier, but I was proud of being able to get around by myself and also preparing some survival Japanese phrases ahead of time on my notes app.

I left Tokyo sorely missing home though – I missed being able to walk down the street while eating food (frowned upon in Japan) and also just the friendly nature of strangers in nyc (ppl tend to keep to themselves in Japan, not that I’d be able to understand someone if they struck up a conversation with me anyways!). Actually, before leaving for this trip, I had so little of it planned that I was considering cancelling it, but I’m really glad I went and had a great adventure in a new country 🙂
