Oh look, here we are. We’ve made it to the end of another year 🙂
Man, this has been a really happy month for me. Waking up to snowy mornings, hopping around to various Christmas parties and festivities, hitting milestones (fitness and others), and of course, enjoying good meals with the people I love the most.

When I was very young, I used to think rather rigidly about friendships. For example, if I couldn’t trust someone with everything, then they weren’t my friend, or if someone flaked on plans with me, I wouldn’t actively give them another chance.
But lately, I’m seeing the importance of having “outer valence friends,” and also how it’s okay to be an outer valence friend to some people. I have a finite amount of energy to give people, and people have a finite amount of energy to give as well.
Of course it’s important to recognize how much/what kind of effort and energy you deserve to receive. I’ve had to ask myself with a few people this year, “I’m honest with them, but do I receive the same level of honesty from them?” and “I’m generous with my time to them, but are they generous with their time toward me?” And if the answer is no, then it’s time to wish them well and move on.
Take care of yourself, okay? Do something that makes you feel happy and safe. See you in 2025.
