Crystal River, FL

Another month, another trip 🙂 Got the chance to escape down south for a weekend and recharge the ol’ solar cells.

Some thoughts from our trip:

  1. People in Crystal River are just so nice! I suppose Southern hospitality extends to Florida, or maybe it’s the sunshine, or maybe we just had great luck with our waitstaff and tour guides.
  2. I learned that manatees prefer solitude, if they’re not mating or nursing. We got to swim up real close to a couple of them. They’re just like chill, massive, gray river lumps that are super cute when they poke their noses up to breathe. They also can’t survive when the water temperature dip below 68°F. Can’t stand the cold and love being alone – maybe I’m a manatee.
  3. Something I thought was really cool was the trees there are draped with Spanish moss (actually bromeliads related to pineapples). It makes the trees look like they’re wearing spooky clothes that flutter in the wind.

Two more weeks until spring! I cannot wait 🌷🌷🌷
