Ended my whirlwind travel year with one more trip and another new city checked off the list – Vancouver! It was a really fun and healing trip – the nature, the fresh air, the CAD->USD discount on food. Idk what was in the air but I slept soo much on this trip, like 10-11 hours a night.
Some things I learned:
- It is ridiculously expensive to live here. The 2024 Demographia International Housing Affordability report has the ratio of median house price/median household income at 12.3 for Vancouver, or “impossibly unaffordable,” compared to 7.0 for NYC, which is only “severely unaffordable.”
- When bears are eating a ton before they hibernate, they’re in “hyperphagia.”
- Clothing optional beaches are a thing in Vancouver near UBC (and yes you will see naked people).

Next stop, LA!
